The Goei Center in Grand Rapids is one of West Michigan’s most unique and treasured special event facilities. Housed in the renovated historic building of the former Kindel Furniture Factory, the Goei Center is overflowing with character, charm and features you won’t find elsewhere. The space is as perfect for a romantic wedding ceremony as it is for a high style fashion show, business seminar, or a prom. We are frequently the chosen venue for events such as the Eastern Floral Bridal Show, political fundraisers, and of course, wedding ceremonies and receptions.
The Goei Center resides in a historic building on the West Side of Grand Rapids. Originally a steel plating factory built in the early 1900s, it became home to Kindel Furniture Company in 1959. These photos pay tribute to a building that has served as a landmark in our community for over 100 years.
This is actually two overlapping images which were restored, merged into one, and then printed on canvas 24 x 60".

Tom Burchman is nice guy and a gentleman. One of the real joys of belonging to BNI Lansing Chapter 1 is the opportunities to get to know folks like Tom. I am sure that he handles his commercial real estate relationships as he does with BNI members. If you are interested in selling, buying or leasing commercial real estate call Tom. Tom connected with his sister-in-law Judy Monroe with the potential to restore a family photograph. This morphed from only a restoration into printing and framing. I think Judy was pleased.

Radio is not for every business as Mike is quick to say, but it will turn the tide if the fit is right. Call Mike Vitale at Midwest Communications to see if your business can benefit with his expertise. One thing that is for certain is that Mike Vitale loves his mom & dad! He asked me to restore these images of his parents which were to be sneaked back on his mother's walls to wait for here surprise. I suspect it won't take very long.

Some amazing things happen at BNI. Susan Chiodi of Helpful Hands asked me to have two loon photos mounted on wood boards. I did that, and Marcus LeVeque saw them. He asked permission from Susan to use one of the loon images. He then asked me to print it on canvas. The recipient of his beneficence is his mother-in-law. Thank you Susan Chiodi! Thank you Marcus LeVeque! Thank you BNI!

Claudia Kerbawy of Take Shape for Life provided the opportunity for me to make three canvas prints of her family wedding photographs. The subjects are gorgeous (both male & female) and I think the end results speak for themselves. If you are looking to move to a healthier life style — have a conversation with Claudia. She can help you.

Corey McHenry and his bride went to Hawaii for their honeymoon. When I saw this photograph they took on a personal excursion down what looks to be a two track in the Upper Peninsula; I thought that this is a place I’d like to experience! The Pacific Ocean and blue sky are just the bonus! Corey is a commercial lender for First National Bank of America. It has been great to learn a little more about this unique East Lansing institution. As a customer I really appreciate the personal attention that I have experienced each and every time I’ve interacted with anyone from First National. Corey asked me to print their Hawaii iPhone image on a 20 x 30 canvas.

BNI members come & go. I was really sorry when Kurt Norgaard left the group because I sincerely wanted to see his operation in Eaton Rapids. We never got a visit arranged. I thought he only built CNC machines for others. He also makes things. He uses CNC machines which can cut all kinds of objects from plastic to metal. I had never heard of this device nor obviously ever seen one. A really nice thing about BNI is that members who have moved on often come back to substitute. Kurt came back and listened to my 60 second on the canvas prints I market. I got to make the canvas print of an image of his he thought his wife would love for Christmas. I also got to volunteer to deliver the canvas on my way to Indiana. Worked out!

Usually I do work for much taller people, but Carter’s Dad (TJ Tribell) asked me to make a canvas for Carter for Christmas. Carter is obviously a huge Spartan fan! I think his Dad got him just the right thing to keep inspiration going all year long.
As for Byrum Builders —- that is another story. We needed a new front storm door. We needed my rear storm door installation ‘improved’, and we needed our ‘cafe;’ style kitchen door to not fall off its moorings! I knew that Byrum Builders could sell me a new storm door & install it, but I did not know that their work could include helping me with the rest of our door issues! They could & did. It is so wonderful to have doors that actually close & doors that do not fall off the wall. I very much appreciated the work that was done, and highly recommend Byrum Builders. |
Susan was looking for a Saint or two, and having been to Rome in June I had a few in my photo archive. She was looking for a Christmas gift for her brother. She picked Saint Paul. I printed it on canvas, stretched it, and had it ready to hang on a wall in time for the big day. I hope he liked it! Helpful Hands • 1640 Haslett Rd. Suite 7B • Haslett Michigan 48840. The offices are behind Jets Pizza & across the parking lot from Subway. What could be a better location?

Dave Smeak of Smeak Real Estate Company of Williamston Michigan has been in the real estate business for a while now. Actually he has been in the business long enough to launch his daughter across town in the same field. From the look of her on his knee she was ready to launch a long time ago! I have met a large number of very nice people though BNI. Dave is one of them. If you are in the market to buy or sell a house — call Dave.

I’ve been to chiropractors all over the United States. Bradley is among the few that actually listens to me — the patient in this case. What he does changes with what he hears from me, what he feels with his fingers, and what he sees in terms of how my particular ship is sailing. My experience is that chiropractors seem to provide just about the same treatment each and every time I show up. A real P.S. is that he does not sell pills (supplements) or pillows and the like. His business is providing chiropractic treatments. The bonus is that he is a very nice guy. Now he does have a down side which he likes hazel nuts, On the surface this should not be negative, but hazel nuts are my favorite nut, and Bradley is eating the supply!!

Marcus used to be really funny but I think some of the funny has gone because he has been so busy replacing people's floors with new tile & carpet. Call him if you want the straight story on floors. I have seen his work, and I have heard many testimonials as to the quality of his materials and craftsmanship.
It was a real pleasure to have Claudia Kerbawy from Take Shape for Life provide Marcus the opportunity to select one of my canvas pieces from Rome called Roman Rocks, Marcus won our weekly BNI drawing. If you want to get thinner but more importantly live a healthier life style talk to Claudia. I have seen the results on a number of BNI members. .

Beth wanted to add Kaylee so we got to make her canvas & take her photo too!
Beth seems to always have a plan. I think she gets things done too! She also has three lovely daughters, and once I get the third photograph I’ll make a canvas of her too. Beth asked me to make canvas versions of the three images because she has a placement plan. She knows right where they’ll be in her house. I am sure they will look great. If you are looking for a doc call Beth and she’ll tell you all about the great services at Lake Lansing Family Practice. They are patient friendly too. |
I had an appointment with Mark Tallis of Tallis & Associates the other day for a pre-tax tax meeting. I don’t like the process of completing federal & state tax filing requirements; ever. But for the last three years I’ve been going to see Mark in November so he can check in on our tax situation, and we can make any adjustments before it is either difficult or too late next April. I love having the process done. Now I do it twice! Mark is that good at what he does. Call him and do you pre-tax tax appointment.
He bought my Fall is Football canvas print. I liked that too! |
There are a lot a reasons to like Mike Vitale. Today I like Mike because he bought my canvas print Fall is Football. My opinion of people always improves when they buy my prints! However, that is not the reason you should like Mike. The reason is that he is just simply a nice friendly guy. He always has a story or a joke — and the stories are interesting / the jokes funny! His expertise is radio. Call him and make an appointment to see how the radio stations he represents may help you.

Mark Beauman of Wireless Zone of Lansing Michigan saw my Fall is Football print on Facebook. He ordered a 12 x 16" canvas version. Even if you use some other cell service go & check out his tore. He has all sorts of cases, holders, speakers, etc. for your cell phone. I always find it a real treat. Everyone is very friendly too.

Dan Pappas wanted these two photographs restored. The one on the left is of his mom & Daniel himself. The one on the right is a wedding photograph from his parents wedding.
The originals of these photos really did not look in that bad of a condition on first inspection. However, they had issues which caused them to yellow, and to evidence a reduction in detail especially in the white areas. Weddings often produce a LOT of white areas. I restored both photographs and made multiple 8 x 10 prints. |
I took Susan's loon prints over to her new offices in Haslett on Friday. Nice digs! I got the nickel tour & everything! Their new place is in Haslett at Helpful Hands • 1640 Haslett Rd. Suite 7B • Haslett Michigan 48840. The offices are behind Jets Pizza & across the parking lot from Subway. What could be a better location? The loon photos were taken by one of Susan's friends. When you drop by ask to see the restroom as she has a very lovely print from a pond on the wall. Is this the art gallery? I guess we'll see.

Dave Smeak of Smeak Real Estate Company of Williamston Michigan iked this building from Birmingham Michigan. He especially liked what it said on the side of the building, and asked me to print it on canvas.
