I think there was a hiatus while waiting for all to remove themselves from the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri -- which is a hard job to be expeditiously accomplished. The Basilica is just so gorgeous, lavish, and unique. If I could only go back to Rome to see one building it would be the Basillica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri with its companions the Baths of Diocletian and the National Roman Museum. In the pause I wandered out to where my telephoto was of some use with the Fountain of the Naiads which sits in the Piazza della Repubblica with cars, buses & truck zooming all around. The Piazza della Repubblica is awing because of the view down the Via Nazionale., and the piazza is huge. I am inevitably attracted to water. Fountains are certainly no exception. The fountain had served as a part of Rome’s fresh water system. The water was originally courtesy of the Marcia Aqueduct (Acqua Marcia). Who knew my sister had an Italian name! I stepped out as far as I could and took a few frames. It was time to move on around the corner to the nearest Tobacchi / Bibite Shop, and then on to the Baths of Diocletian. The Basilica used a hunk of the Baths of Diocletian in sort of a recycling kind of way Renaissance style so there is really no way of separating the experience. Oh, we had Latin to read sitting on the edges of a planter in the front of the entrance to the Bath of Diocletian. I loved the Latin lulls!
